Bridge Grillz are a very elegant style made of solid gold, and they frequently feature diamonds, sapphires, opals, and other gemstones. These grillz are a subtle piece that is designed to show off sections of your natural teeth while having a slim strip of gold along the top of your teeth. If you opt for gold tooth bridges, you add extra bling while still keeping to that subtlety.
Although many people credit Nelly and his 2005 song "Grillz" as the birth of the fad, they are actually far older. (And no, we're not just talking about rappers from the 1980s and 1990s like Slick Rick, Flavor Flav, and Big Daddy Kane) - we're talking about ancient history here:
Between 800 and 200 BC in ancient Italy, affluent Etruscan ladies wore teeth braided together with gold wire the thickness of a rubber band. The wire kept together teeth that had been extracted and reinserted into the mouth, making eating difficult. Although the practice was not widespread, researchers discovered documentation of approximately 20 sets of teeth sewn together in this manner. When the Romans conquered Italy, the Etruscan culture collapsed, and so did the precursor to the gold tooth bridge fashion trend.
Mayans in Latin America drilled tiny holes in their teeth and filled them with precious stones, most often jade. This form of bridge grillz was once again a fad that could only be afforded by royalty and the rich. Even though the Mayan civilization has vanished, gold tooth jewelry is still worn by many individuals in southeastern Mexico, Belize, Honduras, and Guatemala.
What Are Bridge Grillz?
They are a popular kind of grillz with a thin row of gold and diamonds across the tips of your teeth. Bridge pieces show off the majority of your teeth and are a subtle “flex.” Some of the most popular celebrities who have worn this style include Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Rhianna, and more!
This is the fastest growing grillz style in the industry!
Most Popular Bridge Styles
Some of the most popular bridge grillz and gold tooth bridge styles can be viewed as a fashion statement as well as a unique means of self-expression. It's also a chance for the wealthy and famous to flaunt their success and rank by putting some extra bling in their mouth.
- Rose gold: Quite attractive and in high demand in the gold market — it can be the ideal option for you. Accessorize your look with a rose gold bridge. We have a large selection of rose gold styles available, and you can even request a custom design.
- White Gold: This hue stands out more than other gold colors. When you wear it in your mouth, it looks amazing when you smile. White gold is a popular choice mainly because some people don't like the idea of yellow color on their teeth because they are under the impression it will make their teeth look yellow — and if you opt for a gold tooth bridge, it’s even more stunning. White gold bridge grillz are also the most popular choice for customers looking to add diamonds or any other colored stones to their piece.
- Diamond: When you want to stand out but still remain unobtrusive, diamonds are a terrific option. Because of their style, durability, and versatility, diamond bridges are increasing in popularity. Diamond grillz are the most popular option for female celebrities across many industries.
- Yellow Gold: We have a variety of yellow gold bridges. You can adorn your design with gold tooth bridges or diamonds to make them even more stunning, or you can choose sapphires, rubies, emeralds, or any other gemstones! We have also made some very unique hand-engraved bridge grillz — they are some of our favorite designs we have made to date.

Permanent Bridge Grillz
Luxe Grillz does not offer permanent grillz. Here are the two main reasons why we do not offer permanent grillz:
- Permanent grillz are bad for your teeth. For permanent grillz, your teeth would need to be filed down with a power drill before gluing the grillz to your teeth. This prevents you from brushing your teeth, and can therefore lead to cavities and other major dental issues.
- Only dentists are legally allowed to work on your teeth. This includes drilling/filing down your teeth and gluing anything to your teeth.
How to Make Bridge Grillz
Here’s how our bridge pieces are made:
- Molding: We'll take a mold of your teeth at our downtown Los Angeles office. We can also give you a mold kit so you can do it yourself using our video guide.
- Cementing: We drop liquid cement into your mold and create an exact copy of your teeth in cement.
- Waxing: On top of your cement mold, we sculpt a wax mold by hand. We will add extra “thicker” wax if you choose to go with our diamond bridge design. Because diamonds are tall and we need enough gold for the diamonds to sit properly without scraping the surface of your teeth, we make the wax thicker than if you were getting regular or gold tooth bridge.
- Casting: We start the casting procedure for your grillz by putting the wax in our gold casting furnace. From start to finish, this process takes roughly 24 hours and effectively replaces the wax form of your grillz with gold.
- Final Finishing: We put the finishing touches on your piece and then we hand-set each diamond on your bespoke diamond grillz. We put each set of teeth through a series of tests to ensure that there are no loose stones that could come out in the future. All of our “iced out” grillz are also assessed by a third-party appraiser who performs quality control checks on all of our finished products.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you drink while wearing grillz?
You should never eat, drink, or smoke while using grillz, and we advise our clients to handle it as if it were any other piece of jewelry. That is, take your grillz out when you eat, drink, or smoke. And clean the grillz and brush your teeth as often as possible.
How do grills stay in your mouth?
In short, the grillz will sit exactly on top of your natural teeth, gripping them from both the front and back by providing pressure to the tooth's walls. Gold tooth bridges should not cause any discomfort to your teeth, and they should not fall out when you talk.
Is it bad to smoke with bridge grillz?
We never recommend smoking, but if you do, we propose a higher-grade gold (18K-24K) to do the best job at preventing tarnishing. A daily cleaning with a non-abrasive cleanser followed by a warm water rinse is advised.
Can you clean grillz with toothpaste?
Grillz may be cleaned with toothpaste, but not abrasive toothpaste. Brush the gold bridges from your teeth inside and out gently, then rinse them with clean water and dry them on a tissue. To keep your bridge grillz clean, we recommend doing this every day after usage.
